MMAS will be offering 2 two week Advanced Musical Theater Workshops for children ages 9-16.
The classes will focus on audition skills, character development, how to sell a song, dance auditioning, learning a full dance routine and make-up. Your child will learn and develop skills that will help them land that next role! The program will be led by Courtney Bottomley, Carla Bono and Ken Butler.Each session will finish with a performace for friends and family in the Blackbox Theater. Courtney Bottomley has been involved with theatre since childhood This year marks her twentieth as a member of the Norton Singers She has studied several different styles of dance and drama and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Emerson College. Her work as a choreographer and director has been seen at many MMAS & Norton Singers productions. Courtney directed last year's MMAS production of A... my Name is Alice and was the co-coreographer for the December '06 production of Scrooge, the Musical.
Ken Butler is a founder of MMAS. Ken received a BA in Fine Arts Theater & Mass Communications from Franklin Pierce College. He is also a member of the Shakespeare & Company, Lenox Mass. Ken brings many years of musical theater experience and some of his past roles include; Tony in West Side Story, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Curley in Oklahoma, Jerry in The Zoo Story, R.P. McMurphy in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Billy in Carousel, The Emcee in Cabaret, Scrooge in Scrooge The Musical, and Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha. He has toured professionally with Broadway Lights since 1999, directed shows for MMAS and other regional theater companies. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), and The American Federation of Radio and Television (AFTRA) and has many commercial and movie credits.
