The New England Repertory Company and MMAS will present Michael Bolus’s play A Pound Of Flesh directed by Tom Hunter with Mike Kiernan, Jean Swaebe, and Michael Duncan Smith. September 8th through 17th, 2006.
This play is set in the US Army Disciplinary Training Center in Italy at the close of WW II. American poet, Ezra Pound is incarcerated and awaiting trial for treason. His anti-Semitism, pro fascist sentiments, and general paranoia bring him into conflict with his young G.I. jailer. Pound was eventually declared mentally incompetent.
Ernest Hemingway said of him, "the best of his writing... will last as long as there is literature." T.S. Eliot called Ezra Pound il miglior fabbro, "the better craftsman." All of this makes for a fascinating evening. The author, Michael Bolus, will be on hand the first weekend, Sept 8 and 9 for an after-show discussion. Reserve tickets now to attend one of his sessions... |
