Fresh Catch Reels In “Best Soup” Award
Mansfield, MA September 25, 2007— As part of its popular Southern Mass. Arts Festival, MMAS ladled out the title of “Best Soup” in the “Taste of Mansfield Soup Contest” this past weekend. The hundreds of visitors to Mansfield’s South Common had to choose from among seven town restaurants’ entries in the “heated” contest to determine the winner. Jimmy’s Pub entered their Lemon Pepper Chicken Noodle Soup, Mangia Bene offered a Pasta Fagioli, Driscoll’s presented a Baked Potato Soup, defending champion Geno’s entered his award-winning Clam Chowder, Trattoria Della Nonna prepared a Vegetable Triest, and local caterer Beth Birt of Love At First Bite entered a Sweet Red Pepper Bisque.
It was the delicious Lobster Bisque prepared by Fresh Catch, 30 Chauncy Street, that won the hearts and taste buds of the hungry visitors at the Southern Mass. Arts Festival. “MMAS is so grateful to all the participating restaurants,” said Ken Butler, Executive Director of MMAS. “Their support really helped to enhance the annual festival while we raised funds for our mission of fostering the arts in Southern Massachusetts.” Kristi Johnston, Arts Festival Chairperson, added, “We would also like to extend a very special thanks to Rob Bruno and his catering service for helping with the contest, Perkins Paper of Taunton for their donations of paper products, and the many volunteers who served up the best soups in town.” Hosted by MMAS, The Southern Mass. Arts Festival was sponsored in part by funds provided by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Mansfield Cultural Council and the Norton Cultural Council.
