Our Future….
In November 2006, Mansfield voters supported an MMAS-sponsored Warrant Article authorizing the town to sell property at 11 Shawmut Avenue to a non-profit arts society for as little as $1. This vote passed by more than a three-fourths majority, illustrating the town’s commitment to revitalizing the downtown through supporting the construction of an arts center.
MMAS seeks to construct an arts center housing a 140-seat theater, art gallery, studio space and several living/work spaces for resident artists. This center will bring patrons to downtown shops and restaurants, and will be a vital enhancement to downtown life.
This new space will allow us to expand our current cultural and educational arts programming. Increased numbers of classes and productions for children, teens, adults and seniors will greatly enhance the lives of all regional residents, and will increase cultural tourism to Mansfield and the surrounding communities.
